1900
The Enchanted Drawing
was the first animated motion picture and live action film created by J. Stuart Blackton. This marked the start of the History of Animation and led Blackton to be considered the father of American animation.
1915
Cel Technique Invented
by John Bray. Through this, he was able to create moving animations on transparent cel sheets. This allowed for animations to be created much easier and speed up the animation process.
1935
The Band Concert
is the first color movie in which Mickey Mouse appears in. Disney led the way of innovation into creating color movies. This movie was an instant hit and lead the future of color movies.
1960
Disney Expands
to modern films due to the heavy competition in the cartoon animation business. This allowed for disney to diversify its business but didn't help them much in the long run.
1965
Walt Disney Dies
of lung cancer. He was one of the most important people in the animation industry at the time and his death caused sorrow to many. This marks the start of a downfall.
1989
Batman Movie Created
by Warner Brothers Co. It was a critical and financial success, earning over $400 million in box office totals. It was also the fifth highest grossing film in history at the time of its release, helping them grow.
1988 - 2001
Disney Renaissance
was a period of time where Walt Disney Animation Studios returned to producing critically and commercially successful animated films based on popular stories. This time was a period of success for Disney.
2004
Distribution Deal Cut
between Disney and Pixar after growing tensions between them. This allowed Pixar to be more independent and gave them the liberty to collect all the revenue from their movies.
2006
Disney Buys Pixar
from Steve Jobs for 7.4 billion dollars. This allows Disney to worth together with Pixar in a close relationship to produce new stunning films, beginning with Cars.
2016
NBC Buys Dreamworks
for 3.8 Billion dollars. This can allow Dreamwork's characters and films to be distributed throughout Comcast's network and when combined with Illumination, they can produce multiple films every year.
